One of my favorite funniest commercials is the Verizon guy. He cracks me up when he walks every 5 feet asking can you hear me now? Good. Like if you think about it, that guy must pay out the roof and be tired of walking and saying the same thing. Also the person on the other line must be sick and tired of hearing him talk. Speaking of which, I found a funny clip of the other guy on the other end. It is quite funny. It’s also great to see that they expanded on it using huge networking with a lot of people, this is a well done ad for Verizon and shows that their networking, long distance and signal are one of the best.
The funny one with the guy on the other end.

Throw the throttle into over drive
Now I remember seeing this commercial at the 2006 Super Bowl, and it was the full throttle commercial. I laughed when I saw this because you see a guy glance at the full throttle truck and they need to have a drink of it. As the truck drives down the street more and more guys are riding their vehicles just the get a drink of it. There’s monster trucks, dirt bikes, dirt track racers etc. Near the end you see the truck push the small red bull truck off the road saying that red bull is weak and full throttle is better. In my opinion I agree that full throttle is better than red bull because it tastes better, you also get 3 flavors and you get more for a cheaper price.
A ride that's all in one
A little while ago, my mom bought the new Rav4 vehicle from Toyota. While I was in the dealership I watched an ad for the Rav4 and it was quite interesting. It showed the vehicle driving around with half of the car split into different vehicles such as a racecar, a dirt racer and a big snowmobile. The ad then at the end said the new RAv4 from Toyota, it’s what ever you want it to be. I was like, hmm that’s cool, and over the course that we had the vehicle, the ride was exactly what the ad was entailing. I felt like I was in a really powerful vehicle that could do anything. This ad made me feel good that my mom got this car because everything that it said was true. That this vehicle could do anything and when I look back at it, this commercial was done flawlessly. How the vehicle flips into all the other all terrain vehicles is amazing and they driver could do anything with this vehicle that could be done with all the others. This is a really good advertising for the new Toyota vehicle. Also the other ad was quite funny too, where the couple play an almost home alone type of movie where they are racing to get to the car while sabotaging each other, this was also don’t well too and also very funny.
Wii would like to keep fit
Now I’m not that much of a Nintendo fan but I must say that the Wii is an amazing achievement. The way that Nintendo is now using wireless motion for their gaming content is a huge step in technology and the gaming industry. They incorporate movement such as swinging, driving, bashing and whipping into a device that makes gaming more interactive. It is also a great way to do exercises, your moving all around with the Wii not like some consoles that you can just sit in a chair and mash buttons. This system is quite innovative and in how they make their games too. Although they aren’t the best top-notch games, they make up for is how to playa and creative new content that will interest the players. It is truly a remarkable thing Nintendo has accomplished. It will also give other companies such as Sony and Microsoft ideas on how they could improve as well as give ideas for the future.

Super Bowl Laughs
While watching the Super bowl ads during the game I found that here was a reoccurring theme, which was humor. A lot of these commercials were really funny and they were directed to wards those who like comedy and males, especially the Victoria secrets ad. Usually when you watch T.V in general you don’t want to watch stupid pointless boring commercials especially when your show just cut to a break at a pivotal point. That’s why they made these ads funny because it makes you want to watch them again and again and tell your friends about them. These Super bowl ads made sure that the viewer was watching and made the point of making them laugh, they have my vote.

SEX... all that needs to be said.
Over the past few years I was subscribed to the Men’s health magazine. I got them because I wanted to learn some workout exercises and also look at some of their advertising. The magazine consisted most of sex ads, ways to better educate yourself, better techniques, toys, articles, numbers to call and sites to visit. Even on the cover itself it says more Sex and ways to get your climax. I’m thinking to myself. Men would definitely buy this because it will help you with your exercising as it does have some articles on routines but its will also sell because of the sexual content of the magazine. In this day and age, sex sells. No matter what the ad is about, if there is sexual innuendos or references in it, people will tune in and watch or read it. Sex is something men cant get enough of, they want as much of it as possible. Usually if there is something that says better ways to improve your performance then they will look through it and get what they need from it. It is a great advertising ploy to get readers interested in the magazine. Otherwise half of the buys wouldn’t really care about learning to do a proper and healthy exercise if they have nothing to motivate them and look forward to in the future.
The PRIIIIIDE of Nova Scotia!!!!
I have to say that one of the funniest commercials that I used to watch and try to remember was the old Alexander Keith’s commercials. It was pure laughter, and how they used the trademark Nova Scotia local, who had his thick accent and how he praised the beer. It made me laugh so much until the day they found out he watched child pornography. I just wanted to show you some of his famous commercials such as the spilly talker, label peeler, beer eulogy and who’s with me. It was a great series of commercials for one the greatest beers drunk today!

Evolution in handling

When I first heard about that Sony is planning to make a hand held gaming device, I almost flipped out with excitement. Never before has a top-notch entertainment industry gone and tried to construct a device that utilizes 3d graphics. On top of that, it was also a digital movie player a Flash Drive as well as a MP3 player and has Internet capabilities. This was really cool, and I really wanted one too. When it came out I got it first hand and tested it out and it was just as I had expected, Radical! The whole concept of making games and movies more portable is something that very few have achieved. Except for Nintendo with their Gameboy devices for games only. This step in Sony Entertainment has made the world think on what will they come up with next? The portable system itself uses a prototype graphics chip of the PlayStation 3, this was before the PlayStation 3 was released. Recently they released a new version of the PlayStation Portable with more capabilities such as extending the memory of the internal hard drive, extending the range of the Wi-fi signal. It is amazing what Sony has accomplished with the PSP, its hand held, light and can do many things, and you can use it on the go.

Design Is...
To me Design is the construction or building of something, a solution if you will. It satisfies people’s needs as well as gets them intrigued on the actual design or structure of the object. By creating a solution for a problem that intends on making someone aware of something then that is design. It is also creating something from nothing and giving it value and meaning for others to see. It makes them want to figure it out and decipher how it is done. It could also mean the creator wanted the viewer to make the means out for themselves and not give it away. Design is something that keeps individuals thinking, it keeps them aware of the world around them, such as global warming, war, poverty and illness. It makes them view the world and it also makes them think about the issues too. Design can also be made for people to show a variety of emotions, such as funny, sad, happy or angry. Design can mean a lot of things, it is up to the person make a means of it for themselves.

Endless pools
I first saw this TV ad only a few moments ago and I just had to write about it. It was a commercial ad for a personal Pool! I was wowed at this its small enough to put on your backyard deck too and its about 4-5 feet deep. How it works is that a waterfall/jet pushes you while you swim in one spot, which comes the name endless pool because you could swim forever. You can also jog walk to get your exercises too. I thought this is quite neat because you don’t have to worry about going to an actual pool and swimming in a lane that’s really crowded where as here its all to your self. If you want you could just make it a still pool and swim around in it as well not to far though but still it is innovative. If I had the money for it I would get it and swim at home and get my work out there. Although it would be difficult to actual time myself for competitive swimming because there is no end and nowhere to do a flip turn. I still think this is a great design and if you like swimming as much as I do then you should pick this up if you have the money!

Environment Responsibilites
When I look at my responsibilities as a graphic designer. I see that I must inform the people about the truth of things, such as global warming, AIDS virus Politics stuff, etc. Also my responsibility is to show the consumer an experience and relate it to them because that is the most effective way from them to get something out of the design. I believe that I would not work for someone that goes against my morals, such as working for someone who sells tobacco and basically anything that could cause physical or mental harm to the body. I would want to work for something that I believe is true. That they will get the truth from it rather than believe something that isn’t.

A look at Print
The Print media that I consume are very little, there are only 5 magazines that I read.
• PSM ( Playstation Magazine)
• Maxim
• Men’s Health
• Applied Arts
• Print
How will the current state of the design world change the form of print media?
I think that since the design world is going beyond anything anyone has suspected, we are going to see a lot more information shown through technology that printed media. Since new technology has allowed consumers to look up information on the go, on a portable device, its safe to say that a lot of people will not want material things. They wouldn’t want to have 3 trees of paper in their house just sitting there and unorganized. Its a lot easier to organized and store data on a electronical device. Printing industries will still distribute newspapers, magazines, flyers, brochures, articles, etc because people still want to purchase material objects and some of the population are technology illiterate. That’s how those businesses make their money. So in essence, industries will be pushing more towards electronical data to save trees and make consumers more happy about useful, organized data.
Will Print Die?
I personally thing that print wont die. The reason for this is because as previously stated before printing industries still make a lot of money because of consumers purchasing their products and have been for a long time. Even though some industries are wanting to save more trees and waste less paper, they are risking themselves if a crash were to happen. If that were to happen they would lose all their data and take a while to restore everything, where as newspapers and magazines have articles and biographies and other news up to date every week without risking loosing any of it. It’s printed material that won’t be lossed because of a power failure, and if it were to go missing you could always go out and get another one with ease. It will also evolve to the extent that it will be used back everything up so when a computer problem occurs they will be able to locate the information without any further problems. So in the end I think that print will live on past the digital era and be with us for a vary long time!

WHAT?!

This design is a case of WHAT?! (Who Had Accomplished This?!). The design that is to be analyzed is the Mississauga city logo that is issued on all city advertisings as well as clothing. If a foreigner were to look at this logo they would first off not recognize what is being shown, such as the buildings. It almost looks like it’s a docking bay or a harbor for that matter. Yet we understand that that is city hall all the way by square one, with only using geometric shapes. This is a good idea but it also is a bit confusing because it is abstract and it is still even hard to tell that it’s the civic center (city hall). What needs to be done is the logo needs to be updated because its been used since before I was born and it needs to show what Mississauga is really like and something more recognizable too.
